EXPOL UnderFloor R1.4 White is a highly effective, environmentally-responsible solution for insulating timber floors in new homes. Its R Value of 1.4 exceeds the minimum requirement for underfloor insulation and improves the overall insulation rating of the home. Flame retardant and water resistant, it is also immune to sagging, making it a safe, long-term solution

It is made using expanded polystyrene (EPS), a recyclable product that is 98% trapped air, which makes it an excellent insulator. Unlike other insulation materials, EPS is a rigid product – that means it won’t sag or be prone to creating gaps over time.

As well as keeping heat in, EPS is great at keeping moisture and wind out. It is also flame retardant and has no nutritional value for rats, mice, birds or animals. These properties make it the perfect insulation material for your home.

Whether you’re a professional or a DIYer, installing EXPOL UnderFloor R.14 White is quick and easy. The product is lightweight, anti-allergenic and available in four widths that fit a range of standard joist spacings.

EXPOL UnderFloor R1.4 White comes in convenient 1.2 metre lengths. Each panel is 60mm thick and can be compressed by up to 20mm, making installation even easier. Panels can also be quickly trimmed to size if need be.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCT

EXPOL UnderFloor R1.4 White comes in four widths, designed to suit most standard floor joist spacings. To find out which width is right for your floors, you can use our handy ruler.

TIP: Joist sizes can vary so be sure to measure more than one. You may need a few different panel sizes to complete the job.

WHAT HAPPENS TO EXPOL UNDERFLOOR INSULATION IN A FIRE?

Expol UnderFloor insulation is flame retardant and will not support a fire.

DOES EXPOL UNDERFLOOR INSULATION GIVE OFF ANY TOXIC FUMES?

The level of toxicity of Expol UnderFloor insulation in a fire is no greater than that of burning timber.

WHAT IF MY SIZES DIFFER FROM EXPOL UNDERFLOOR INSULATION STANDARD SIZES?

The flexi-cut edges of Expol UnderFloor insulation panels allow the panels to be adjusted to varying floor joist spacings.

DO I NEED TO USE FIXINGS FOR A NEW FLOOR?

Yes. When fixing from the top of the joist the nylon fixing is placed flush with the top of the joist, this ensures the panel sits flush with the underside of the floor. Usually a maximum of two fixings are used per panel.

HOW DOES EXPOL UNDERFLOOR INSULATION COME?

Expol UnderFloor insulation is plastic wrapped and delivered to your merchant in bundles of approximately 6 square metres.

WIRE GUARD

EXPOL Wireguard is a waxed paper strip that separates exposed electrical cables from EXPOL UnderFloor insulation. It is important to use EXPOL Wireguard because, in some cases, EPS can degrade the elastic properties of some electrical cables over a prolonged period.

FIXINGS

Non-corrosive nylon fixings, with a stainless steel nail, are used to fix EXPOL UnderFloor panels in place. These fixings are suitable for use in both new and existing floor installations.

CONSTRUCTION ADHESHIVE

Our water-based glue adheres polystyrene to most surfaces. EXPOL UnderFloor panels can be glued in place using this adhesive as an alternative, or in combination with nylon fixings.

EXPOL JOIST SADDLES

These are designed to slip over the joist to support and secure the panel.
